 Pastor: Fr. Steve Dumais SDB

 

Fr. Steve Dumais, SDB, is currently the paster of Mary Help of Christians Parish in Tampa, FL. He was born in Lawrence, MA in 1948. Following high school at a Salesian Junior Seminary in Ipswich, MA in 1966, he was accepted as a novice of the Salesian Society at Newton, NJ, where he made his first profession of vows on August 15, 1967.

He received his B.A. degree from Don Bosco College in Newton, NJ in 1971. Following college he spent three years of Practical Training as a teacher and assistant in Salesian schools in Florida and Indiana. He began his final studies of Theology at the Pontifical College Josephinum in Worthington, OH in September of 1974. He was ordained as a Salesian priest on May 19, 1978 at Christ the King Church in Columbus, OH.

Fr. Steve has done priestly ministry in a number of states and places. From Louisiana to Florida to New Jersey to New York, Father has ministered in parish settings, a resident school, a day high school, a formation residence, a shrine and retreat center, and in Province administration. His responsibilities have been equally varied: Assistant Pastor, Director, Formation Administrator, High School Principal, Coordinator of Youth Ministry, Vice Provincial, Province Delegate for Social Communications, and Pastor.

 Deacon: Ed Anctil

 

Deacon Ed Anctil was born and raised in Nashua, N.H. He was educated by the Salesian priests and brothers at Sacred Heart Juniorate in Ipswich, Ma. and at Don Bosco College in Newton, N.J. where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts. He journeyed to Florida where he met and married his wife, Lorraine, and together they raised two sons and the enjoyment of five grandchildren.

He is a retired Hillsborough County deputy sheriff. During his years as a deputy he served as a community resource deputy, aided in establishing a voluntary board of chaplains to assist in the spiritual needs of his fellow deputies, was a member of the sheriff’s office peer support team, and a peer/chaplain for region 6 of the State of Florida Critical Incident Response Team.

His family were long time members of Good Shepherd Catholic Church where he was assigned as deacon to the parish after his ordination in June 1997 and transferred over to Mary Help of Christians when the Salesians agreed to lead the parish for the diocese and the Good Shepherd property was sold. Along with his assignments here at Mary Help, he is also the assistant chaplain for Catholic Scouting for the diocese, he is a mentor for men who are in formation to be ordained as a permanent deacon, and is one of four master of ceremony for diaconal liturgies.
